Help raise awareness of the Breck Athletic Complex project in Big Bend WI.

Who We Are

Our Goal

Our Plans

Our Plans

ENDBRECK is a local community initiative dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging careful consideration of the proposed Breck Athletic Sport Complex in Big Bend, Wisconsin. The project, described as a large-scale youth sports destination, intends to bring expanded athletic facilities, tournament events, and new traffic to the area. ENDBRECK seeks to ensure residents fully understand the size, impact, and long-term implications of this development so that local voices remain central in decisions shaping Big Bend’s future.

Our Plans

Our Plans

Our Plans

ENDBRECK’s immediate focus is to stop the proposed Breck Sports athletic complex by informing residents, organizing neighbors, and engaging directly with local officials and decision-makers. We will share clear, accessible information about the project’s size, traffic, noise, environmental impact, and costs so people understand what is at stake. Our plans include hosting community meetings, circulating petitions, coordinating public comments at hearings, and supporting residents in exercising their rights in local government processes. We are committed to a fact-based, respectful, and persistent effort that keeps Big Bend’s voice at the center of every step.

Our Hope

Our Plans

Our Hope

Beyond this single project, ENDBRECK is working for a better long-term vision for Big Bend that reflects what residents actually want for their community. We support development that is appropriately scaled, transparent, and compatible with our village’s rural character, roads, schools, and environment. Our future plan is to encourage early community involvement in any large-scale proposals, promote stronger local standards for development, and advocate for investments that truly improve quality of life for current and future residents. By organizing now, we aim to build a lasting culture of informed, engaged citizens who help guide Big Bend’s growth on our terms—not on the timetable of outside developers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@savebigbend.community if you cannot find an answer to your question.

How much public money or incentives (tax breaks, TIF funds, grants, or waived fees) are being given to the developer? Is village funding or borrowing being used for roads, sewers, or utilities—and how much in each area? Has the developer requested revenue guarantees such as hotel or user‑fee backstops?
Why it matters: Public subsidies shift financial risk from the developer to taxpayers. Understanding total costs and payment timing shows whether the project is self‑supporting.

Will the complex pay full property taxes or a reduced rate? Who will own the land, buildings, and retail spaces once construction is complete? If the project is sold, can the village reclaim subsidies or change the deal?
Why it matters: Ownership and tax rates determine fairness, long‑term responsibility, and whether profits stay local.

What happens if revenues fall short by 30–50%? Who covers debt if later phases (such as the hotel) aren’t built? Will an independent fiscal study—funded by the village, not the developer—be released before approval?
Why it matters: Realistic estimates and third‑party reviews protect taxpayers from hidden liabilities or rate hikes.

Are performance promises and tax breaks legally binding with clear penalties if goals aren’t met? What annual results will be tracked—tax revenue, jobs, local field use?
Why it matters: Strong contracts and transparent metrics ensure commitments are measurable and enforceable.

Does rezoning this project open the door for future large developments under similar terms? Will new sewer or water lines expand development south of I‑43 or along Hwy 164?
Why it matters: Infrastructure expansions often shape future growth and limit local control.

Who pays for new mains and hookups—developer, TIF district, or taxpayers? Could nearby homeowners be required to connect, and if so, when? Will water or sewer rates increase village‑wide?
Why it matters: Cost‑sharing decisions affect all ratepayers and determine whether residents face unexpected fees.

What is the village’s total financial exposure if the project falters? Are long‑term costs such as police, roads, and park maintenance, included?
Why it matters: Unbudgeted services can strain village finances well beyond initial construction costs.

How much traffic will events generate, and how will roads handle it? How late will games run and how bright will lighting be? Is there enough on‑site parking for peak tournaments?
Why it matters: Proper traffic, light, and noise planning protects neighborhood access and quality of life.

Can current staffing handle large events without delays? Will the developer help fund new vehicles, gear, or on‑site emergency support?
Why it matters: Safety preparedness prevents additional costs from being passed to residents.

How much field time or programming is reserved for Big Bend schools and residents? Will local youth leagues have affordable access or scholarships?
Why it matters: Public involvement ensures the project genuinely serves the community.

What conditions—tax limits, noise caps, community access—will be legally enforceable, and who ensures compliance? How can residents report concerns? When will the public get more chances to comment or vote?
Why it matters: Public participation and clear enforcement are the foundations of accountable development.
